"The greatness of any city can be judged by the way it treats its weakest members", By Anonymous

They are here: on street corners, in alleys, sleeping in doorways, and on park benches, living under freeway overpasses, pushing shopping carts, and begging for food or a quarter. They are homeless, drug addicted, alcohol dependant, the weakest members of our society. Yes, they are members of our society, yours, and mine. They were doctors, lawyers, teachers, computer gurus, contractors, a waitress, bookkeepers, nurses, gardeners, mechanics, plumbers, America's Veterans, and your neighbors. One is an aunt or an uncle, a mom or dad, a sister or brother, a grandparent, a daughter, a son, the lost love of someone's life.

At People In Progress, over 90% of private funding goes DIRECTLY to client services. When we purchase food, it goes to the hungry. When we receive clothing, it goes to the homeless. However, we need YOUR help. We will be providing several Holiday Programs for our homeless, low-income, and residential treatment clients who struggle each day to remain clean and sober. Our events began in November and include:

12th Annual Thanksgiving Festival: This year, we fed over 2100 homeless and low income people from our service area. We send Outreach Teams into the Skid Row area to bring them to the festival for a complete Thanksgiving meal the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

Holiday Meal Program: We provide our participating families with a full bag of groceries to prepare a Holiday Meal at home.

Children's Program: We collect toys and other usable items to distribute to the children and families in our area and provide them with that special holiday feeling.

Residential Holiday Dinner: Each of our residents receives a gift bag with toiletries, supplies, and personal clothing items. Most people that enter our Residential Program come to us literally with the clothes on their backs: either from homelessness, addiction, prison, or family separation. Our success rate for residential treatment is approximately 40%, which is an extremely high success rate, and our program has become a model for other treatment facilities.

Please be a part of 'building addiction-free lives' in our City of Angels.
